Burger Succeeds Hess at Howard Incubator

Linda Burger is the senior vice president, small business development, with the Howard County Economic Development Authority (HCEDA). Her focus is on entrepreneurial development and mentoring small businesses at The Center for Business & Technology Development. She replaces Vic Hess, who is now the center's entrepreneur-in-residence, in that capacity.

Burger most recently served as the HCEDA's technology manager, a new position to which she brought a wealth of technology expertise. In that role, she began developing the foundation for the county's new technology council and meeting with businesses and existing regional technology groups to determine community requirements for programming and services.

She came to the authority by way of the Frederick County Office of Economic Development, where she served as its technology transfer business development specialist. At that point, she was responsible for the operation of the Fort Detrick Technology Transfer Initiative for Frederick County Government, working in close partnership with the Maryland Technology Development Corp. (TEDCO) and the United States Army Medical Research & Materiel Command.

Burger worked substantially with the Howard County-based Technology Leadership Consortium, supporting its Informatics Coalition efforts. And she developed Frederick area informatics activities such as educational seminars, panel discussions and networking opportunities.

While working in Frederick County, Burger also provided strategic business consulting services to pre-startup, small and mid-sized emerging technology companies and worked with more than 300 regional businesses. Her background, which includes public and private sector work and entrepreneurship, allows her to provide clients with a well balanced assessment of their business strategies.
