On Monday, May 20th, HopeWorks and Howard County First Lady Shani Ball will be holding a “Eat, Drink, Give” fundraiser at Cured 18th & 21st in Columbia.

HopeWorks of Howard County, formerly known as the Domestic Violence Center, works to promote a community in which sexual and domestic violence is not tolerated and where victims can get individualized, comprehensive services including shelter, counseling, advocacy and legal services. HopeWorks has a robust public education department with a special focus on prevention, educating youth, and engaging the community in ending the violence.

“I know this fundraiser will be a wonderful event to benefit a worthy cause,” said Howard County Executive Calvin Ball. “HopeWorks is so important to our community and we should all be supporting their mission. Also, I could not be prouder of my wife, Shani, for her role in the event. She is a strong champion for these issues and an advocate for the vulnerable, as a registered nurse. I am very lucky to have such an amazing woman as my partner.”

The fundraiser will be a fun evening featuring specialty drinks, heavy hor d’oeuvers, and raffles.100% of ticket sales will support survivors as they move from crisis to recovery. Safety, recovery from trauma, and protection from violence are all priceless resources that victims find here at HopeWorks. For more information or to purchase tickets visit www.wearehopeworks.org.
