Loyola University Maryland was ranked No. 4 among the Best Regional Universities in the North Region in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges rankings for 2023. Loyola has been recognized in the top five for more than a decade.

The publication also ranked Loyola No. 1 among the Best Colleges for Veterans in the North Region. The ranking recognized Loyola’s participation in federal initiatives that help make pursuing a college degree more affordable for veterans and active-duty service members.

In addition, U.S. News ranked Loyola:
● No. 4 for Undergraduate Teaching ― Regional Universities North
● No. 11 among the Most Innovative Schools ― Regional Universities North (tie)
● No. 49 for Best Undergraduate Engineering ― No Doctorate (tie)
● No. 56 for First-Year Experiences (tie)
● No. 59 among the Best Value Schools

The university was also ranked for its undergraduate business (No. 108) and computer science (No. 172) programs.

To calculate the rankings, U.S. News analyzed 1,500 U.S. bachelor’s degree-granting institutions on 17 measures of academic quality, including retention and graduation rates, class sizes, student-faculty ratios, and average federal loan debt of graduates. In addition, Loyola was ranked No. 31 nationally in Washington Monthly’s 2022 Master’s University Rankings and included in the publication’s 2022 Best Bang for the Buck Rankings: Northeast.
