The Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County has announced four new Ladders to Success Economic Opportunity Grants. The awards, totaling $72,000, aim to improve economic outcomes for low-income adults and youth in Anne Arundel County.
The Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County (CFAAC), through its grant program, Ladders to Success, has awarded more than $650,000 to local nonprofits. The organization helps low-income youth succeed in school and life, and increases the self-sufficiency of low-income adults through programs that eliminate barriers to employment and provide workforce training, skillbuilding and job placement.
CFAAC is funding the following programs through Ladders to Success:
- The Community Action Agency’s Green Summer Works is a comprehensive workforce preparation, life skills and financial literacy training program for low-income youth in Anne Arundel County. The employment is all rooted in “green jobs.”
- The Light House’s B.E.S.T. Facilities Management and Advanced Facilities Training, a workforce training program to enhance the skills of 30 graduates of the B.E.S.T. Program. This will improve the likelihood of sustainable employment and self-sufficiency.
- Associated Catholic Charities, Sarah’s House, to fund its Economic Opportunity Through Sustainable Employment. This program helps families who are experiencing homelessness in Anne Arundel County obtain critical services to gain employment, increase earning capacity and achieve long-term sustainability.
- Anne Arundel Literacy Council’s Changing Lives Through Literacy. The grant provides funding for one-on-one tutoring and mentoring for vulnerable adults and out-of-school youth with low reading levels.
