CLEAR, the biometric identity platform that is in use at a growing number of airports nationwide, launched at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport on Wednesday, April 22. BWI Marshall became the 11th airport to join CLEAR’s expanding network and was the first in the Baltimore-Washington area to offer travelers this timesaving and secure method of traveling.
Safety Act Certified by the Department of Homeland Security as a Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology, New York-based CLEAR uses biometrics (fingerprint and iris) to verify members’ identity, delivering a secure, consistent and fast experience through screening at major U.S. airports across the country. On average, CLEAR members move through airport security checkpoints in less than five minutes.
CLEAR access and enrollment is available at BWI Marshall gates B and D, and customers can also enroll in the program at gate A. CLEAR members also are eligible for discounts through CLEAR’s partner network, including Hertz car rentals.
Travelers who sign up at CLEAR airport locations or at enroll.clearme.com (using code BWI2MTRY) may enroll for a two-month free trial. CLEAR membership costs less than $15 per month for unlimited use in all locations. CLEAR works with TSA PreCheck, and frequent travelers can benefit from using both systems.
CLEAR has been used more than 2 million times by travelers and has saved its members more than 60 million minutes of their time. CLEAR’s platform is scalable for other verticals, including stadiums, universities, buildings and other venues focused on enhancing security.
CLEAR is also available at airports in San Francisco and San Jose, Calif.; Las Vegas; Denver; Orlando; San Antonio; Dallas-Fort Worth; Houston’s Hobby International and Bush Intercontinental airports; and at Westchester County, N.Y. In addition to BWI Marshall, Miami International Airport recently joined the CLEAR network.
