Host Partners to Host Foley Farewell Luncheon

Join the Fort Meade Community Covenant Council and the Greater Fort Meade Community as it honors Col. Brian P. Foley, Fort Meade Garrison Commander, for his leadership and commitment to the Fort Meade Region. The event will take place on Thursday, June 23, at the BWI Airport Marriott, located at 1743 West Nursery Road, Linthicum.

The cost is $55 per person. Partnership to Host MARC Riders Appreciation Day

The BWI Business Partnership will be hosting the second annual MARC Riders Appreciation Day at the Odenton MARC train station on Thursday, June 23, from 3–6 p.m. Working with the partnership again are the West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, Maryland Transit Administration  and three local businesses that will be providing treats to homebound rail commuters:

  • The Hideaway BBQ Restaurant, Baltimore Coffee & Tea and Ruth’s Chris
  • Steak House, which will open this fall at the adjacent Village at Odenton Station

The festivities will be located at the south end of the southbound train platform, adjacent to the station house. Representatives from Express Link and Baltimore LINK will also be on hand to educate riders and answer questions.

BWI Marshall Welcomes Allegiant Air

BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport has welcomed the start of service from Allegiant Air, a new carrier for the airport. Allegiant launched flights between BWI Marshall and two markets, Cincinnati and Savannah, Ga. In the coming weeks, the airline will add roundtrip service between BWI Marshall and Asheville, N.C.; Knoxville, Tenn.; Lexington, Ky.; and Tulsa, Okla.

Allegiant Air is the low-cost airline subsidiary of Allegiant Travel Company. Based in Las Vegas, Allegiant uses low base airfares to link travelers in small cities across the U.S. to world-class destinations. The company also provides other travel-related services, such as hotel rooms, rental cars, and attraction tickets.  Allegiant continues to grow, now offering low-fare service to more than 100 markets nationwide, more than any other domestic low-cost carrier.

Armada Hoffler Announces $42M Investment in Annapolis Junction Mixed-Use Project

Virginia Beach-based Armada Hoffler Properties has announced its investment in the $102 million multi-family component of Annapolis Junction Town Center, a planned 18-acre mixed-use, multi-asset development that also will feature 17,000 square feet of retail space, a 150-room hotel and 100,000 square feet of office space.

Armada Hoffler will partner with the lead developer for the Town Center on producing the residential portion of the mixed-use development. The Residences at Annapolis Town Center are scheduled to break ground this summer with an estimated completion date in early 2018. The project, which will pursue LEED Silver certification, will feature 416 apartment homes, with structured parking adjacent to the Savage MARC Commuter Rail Station.
